About What is your opinion on this theory (not mine) of Saul / St Paul

What is your opinion on this theory (not mine) of Saul / St Paul?
Saul / St Paul was actually Josephus Flavius. I realize this is a bold theory but if you can open you mind to it then it seems to make a lot of sense. Obviously you need to believe that Jesus Christ was a myth and then consider that St Paul is a pseudonym. Enjoy. Saul and Josephus lived identical lives. Here is a starter for you... Saul / St Paul – A Jew of Tarsus, Raised in Jerusalem, Roman Citizenship, Educated as a Pharisee, Became a Rabbi Josephus Flavius – A Maccabean Jew, Raised in Jerusalem, Became Roman Citizen, Educated as_ a Pharisee, Became a Rabbi Saul/Josephus disappeared from public view for a number of years from AD 56 onwards, Saul admits being in prison while Josephus skipped 7 years of his life-story. Both embark on a voyage to Rome in AD 62 - date match exactly. Both voyages end in disaster, both encounter a storm and are shipwreaked then end up in Rome The ‘publisher’ of both of their works was Epaphroditus, secretary to emperors Nero and Domitian. What are the chances of two individuals, two jewish priests, both Roman citizens, both shipwreaked, both writing many letters through the offices of the same ‘publisher’? I would say to you that it is far more likely they where the same person. Your wondering about how I explain the age of Saul/St Paul yes? Saul / St Paul's birth date is unknown. The date given for Josephus birth is AD 37 and is entirely possible for both. There is nothing within the life of Saul, as detailed in the new testament, that would require his missionary tours to start before AD 53, when he was 16 yrs. Even today, missionary tours are most often undertaken by the youth of a sect or community and Saul was no exception to this rule. Also, the epistles or letters of Saul, which form the bulk of the new testament, all date from AD 53 onwards. In addition – William Whiston, 1737 – Famous for translating Josephus’ works into English observed – “Josephus’ work and the letters of St Paul are written in the same style”. There is actually many more similarities, I can add them if you wish. There are also endless explanations of events but i felt this was enough information to create an interest in the theory.

No.
Answer 2 :
It's not a scholarly theory, and it's not very likely. Also, most scholars don't believe that the friend of Paul by the name of Epaphroditus, the secretary of Nero by the same name, and the Epaphroditus whom Josephus dedicated his book to were the same people. It was a fairly common name at the time. I'll see if I can find a full refutation of it (which I was looking for, which is why I'm only just now submitting this answer), and post a link to it. Edit: I found an article that has a response which shows some of the differences in the circumstances surrounding Paul's and Josephus' shipwrecks here (scroll down to see the comment): http://vridar.wordpress.com/2007/04/25/the-shipwrecks-of-josephus-and-paul-part-3/ I'll continue looking.
Answer 3 :
Um. No. Paul was a pagan from Tarsus who moved to Jersualem, briefly converted to Saduceean Judaism and then converted out again and began railing against Judaism, especially circumcision. He had no Pharisee training. (Or, if he did, it was quite quite poor. His writing reveals a total lack of Pharisee training but does show Greek rhetorical training.) Paul never met Jesus and was rejected by Jesus' followers, the Nazarenes. Josephus, Jewish born historian who documented the fighting between the Romans and Jews

About Can anybody help me find info on my great father in-law, Hermann Hemesath, immigrated to US from Germany

Can anybody help me find info on my great father in-law, Hermann Hemesath, immigrated to US from Germany?
He either owned or worked in a brewery in St Paul, Minnessota. I live in Austria now and have no job and no credit card so I am finding it very difficult to research. I know from the few pictures I have found that he worked in St Paul in 1955. I have only been able to find his New York entrance records. It is very important to my mother in law. Her mother told her he abandoned her but apon the mothers death, she found a box full of letters from him saying how much he loved her and pleading for her to write him. My mother in law lived a horrable life and if I could shed just a little bit of light on her past, I hope it will bring her some closure. I believe he died in 1965 and was born in 1911. Ihope someone can help.

Answer 1 :
If this is the same man, then I'm afraid he did die in 1965. Herman Hemesath died in Santa Cruz, California on 28 March 1965. It lists his date of birth as 30 May 1911 in Germany. Ironically, I found 2 other men with the same name living in Iowa. One was born in 1908 and died in 2000, the other is still living. I have no idea if there was any relationship between them all. I did find several telephone listings and addresses for people with this last name (which I've organized by state for you) at this site: http://www.whitepages.com/10001/log_feature/sort/search/Replay/?search_id=50191321541355727642&sort=state
Answer 2 :
I applaud Genevieve.. and might add some. On www.rootsweb.com there are family files, and several for the Iowa group, and their lineage from Germany (?). They could be distantly related. But, perhaps the father remarried and has other children who would be 1/2 siblings to your mother in law. Getting more details about her father, including an obituary, may open that door. Since he died in Calif.. that is where the search needs to go. Please drop me a note via my profile. I will do some digging tonite, and if you write to me, I can let you know how that turns out. It may take me a few days.

Is St.Paul, MN a nice city to work in?

Answer 1 :
I go to minneapolis to do business sometimes but they are one in the same. the only problem is that if you are not used to the cold, you will have a hard time getting used to the weather
Answer 2 :
Yes, St. Paul is a nice city to work and live in. I lived in the city for ... well, lets just say many many years. St. Paul is a large city with a small town feel to it. For the most part, when the business day ends (approx. 6 pm) the city pretty much rolls up the carpet for the night. Which is not to say there aren't things to do, they just aren't in the downtown vicinity. I highly recommend St. Paul over Minneapolis. St. Paul has a good bus service or if you prefer to drive, cheaper pay lots than Mpls

About Which is better to live in St. Paul, Minneapolis or suburbs

Which is better to live in St. Paul, Minneapolis or suburbs?
I'm a young single professional that will be working near the capitol in St. Paul. I'm moving from a small town out of state and have never lived in a large city before. Living near work is important to me as I have dogs and would like to be able to run home during lunch. But people have been telling me I should live in Minneapolis because it's a lot more fun.

Answer 1 :
from a visitors point of view i liked minneapolois better. its a much cleaner place than st paul.
Answer 2 :
you could do both, live in Minneapolis as it is much more fun,and live either down town or uptown, either one and you will be in a fun spot, and the commute to st. paul is still pretty short, although downtown will be the shorter of the two, you wont be able to go home for lunch, but you won' be too bored living in st.paul either , good luck....I live in minneapolis
Answer 3 :
YES live in Minneapolis. its a great place
Answer 4 :
If you're from a small town, Minneapolis may be intimidating to you at first. Still, it is a fun place for young professionals like yourself, with several different neighborhoods to meet your needs. If you have dogs, it is harder to find a place in the city, especially with a decent yard. I have a dog and live in Mpls right now and there are a lot of parks/lakes to walk, even some dog parks. The suburbs are OK--they tend to get very quiet if you're ok with that. Same with St. Paul, pretty quiet. You might like living somewhere around the Grand Ave/Summit Ave area in St. Paul. There are some nice restaurants/bars on Grand and it's a pretty nice area.
Answer 5 :
It all depends on your priorities. Living in the suburbs you will be able to get a nicer place for your money with a larger yard but with traffic will not be able to run home during lunch. Minneapolis has a great nightlife, but expensive to live downtown and you wont have much luck finding a yard and even in Mpls you'll really be cutting your time short if you are trying to drive there and back to St. Paul during lunch. St. Paul has its OK areas, you'll be able to get to your dogs, and twin cities rush hour is horendous so living close to work is ideal but either city has its crime and rough areas whereas the suburbs are more affluient. It all depends on what you are looking for and how long you plan to stay there

I don't live in Minnesota, but this looks like a job for the Metro Transit trip planner. Metro express bus route 674 runs between Wayzata and downtown Minneapolis. From there you can take route 94 to St Paul (depending on where you want to go, other routes may be available

About Which Minneapolis/St. Paul suburb would be best if you work in Oakdale

Which Minneapolis/St. Paul suburb would be best if you work in Oakdale?
My husband has a new job in Oakdale and our family will be relocating there. I don't know much about the suburbs and trying to look at internet maps has me more confused. The things we are looking for are: good schools, short commute, decent housing costs (we will be renting at first~preferably a house, not an apt.), safe neighborhoods, easy access to family oriented activites. Does anybody have any ideas on which area would work the best for us? As much detailed info you can give would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

Answer 1 :
You should look at living in Oakdale itself or maybe Stillwater. Stillwater has a huge school though, but they have a variety of classes to choose from. Coon Rapids is also nice, but I think that the longer commute and traffic would get old after a while. Also, if your husband doesn't mind the commute after all, you could look into living just on the other side of the border in Wisconsin like in Hudson which has the small-town feel to it. The traffic doesn't really seem too bad until you get a little further into Minnesota anyway. Also, you could look into Bayport; I've been through it a couple of times on my way to other places, and I really like it. It's a very pretty town, and I would consider living there someday. Woodbury is a very fancy suburb, and it is close to Oakdale; Woodbury has very good shopping, but that may be the only good thing about it if you don't like snobby people. I've met a few people from Woodbury, and I think they seem very nice, but a lot of my friends actually can't stand people from Woodbury because the Woodburians (or whatever they are supposed to be called) are supposedly so snobby. According to one of my friends who is actually from Woodbury, all the neighbors try to out-do each other and kind of have a slightly malicious attitude towards their competition. I don't know about all people from Woodbury though, and like I wrote already, the five or so people I know from Woodbury seem decent in my opinion. Besides, good shopping, good shopping! All of the places I listed seem very safe in my opinion--which says a lot because I am originally from a much more rural area, but I go to college in the Twin Cities area. I'm not as certain about housing costs, but I know that Woodbury may not be the cheapest place. Living pretty much anywhere in the Twin Cities area gives you access to a variety of activities. I'm not as sure on the schools because I didn't go to school in the Twin Cities area, but my friends that attended schools in that area seem like well-adjusted individuals.

Answer 1 :
Do you need three bedrooms? One problem with living in one state and working in another is state taxes. Another is the commute. Summertime is usually no problem, but winter can be tough. Try looking here for some reasonably priced apartments. http://www.apartments.com/Minnesota/Twin-Cities/EastSuburbs
Answer 2 :
Yeah, I've heard of people who do that, but I never would. It is really unpleasant commuting that far in the winter, not just because of the weather but because of the dark. When the days get shorter in the winter you can get kinda tired from all the darkness and you just want to get home fast rather than be stuck driving. Driving is really, really slow, in bad weather, too. The happiest of us have an apartment or house really close to work. It's just people with families who move out farther

Rush hours on 35E in ST Paul,MN ?
Does any one has advice how bad the traffic is in rush hours from Forest Lake to Eagan? I just got a job in Eagan. I have no idea how long should I expect to be on the road. Look like I have to go thru St Paul. My work start at 9am. Should I leave home around 7am? Pls advise.. Thank you guys!!

Answer 1 :
Try leaving at 7 AM and then see when you get to work. If you get to work at 8:30, cut off a half hour the next day and leave at 7:30. Adjust from there. Traffic in the metro is fickle from day to day as well as the weather. But 35E is pretty steady and usually clear. Although any dummy can slow things down

About Where can I find night shift work in St. Paul (or Metro area), MN

Where can I find night shift work in St. Paul (or Metro area), MN.?
I'm finishing a summer course in a week and will need to make $2600 in the next 6-10 weeks to pay off the course. I've searched Craigslist, Monster, Jobdig, and other sites for night shift employment in the metro area in Minnesota but have yet to find a job that doesn't require much experience (because college takes up so much of your time). At this point I'm thinking about applying through a temp agency but that could take more time too. Who in MN knows of a good place that's always hiring 3rd shift employees (and has a base pay of $11+)? Any help would be great!

Check with any of the "big box" retailers, like Home Depot, WalMart, Target, and such. They routinely hire for overnight stock help at about the rate you are seeking, and require very little experience.
