About Question about government job locations

Question about government job locations?
I am an undergrad at University of Wisconsin Madison studying human development and family studies and after grad school i would like to get a job working for the government as either a social policiy analyst or a counselor. I want to stay in the midwest but with a government job would I be required to work in Madison, St. Paul, Des Moines, etc

Answer 1 :
If you are talking working for the Federal government, be advised you will find it VERY hard to get a policy analyst job anywhere but Washington DC. Almost all policy is drawn up and introduced in the main offices in DC - field offices are more designed to perform program work directly with clients. Similarly, I would assume that policy analyst for a state government will be in whatever the capital of the state is. As a counselor, you would probably have more options for location (this is all assuming anyone is hiring in these times).
Answer 2 :
Go to www.usajobs.gov, put "counselor" in the search field and hit enter. Then you can take a look at where jobs are available and what they are. Dave is correct about any policy analyst job being in Washington DC or vicinity, but various counselors are needed across the country. Be aware, though, that unless you are a veteran, your chances of getting a federal job are pretty slim unless you have a degree that few other people have, because they have preference

About Are there any staffing agencies in Minneapolis/St. Paul that help somone find a permanent job

Are there any staffing agencies in Minneapolis/St. Paul that help somone find a permanent job?
I got laid off from my job last winter. I have subsequently been working temp jobs off/on for the past 8 months. I've submitted resumes through Monster, HotJobs and Startribune.com, but I haven't landed a permanent job yet. Are there any employment agencies out there who deal specifically with placing people directly in jobs without the temporary stipulation? I also have 10 years in my field. Please let me know if you know of a company you'd recommend or if you're a headhunter for a specific company that you can vouch for! Thanks! Please overlook my spelling errors, I've been up late sending out resumes and I'm operating on little sleep!

Hi, i had worked with leading 5 star hotel and currently working as restaurant manager. Even i faced the same situation when i was taking the handover of the store, it was located in one of the prime locations, and it had great potential of generating sale but figures were quite opposite. First of all i worked on getting the basics right i.e., your people training them, motivating them, incentivising them and conducting monthly meeting and updationg on how stores doing and asking their suggestion how can we do better.. Working on the menu.. few changes and strong promotion executions worked for me.. and i'm doing well today.
Answer 3 :
Make sure your hotel is visible in local press and online. Write a review for it on sites like http://gekko.com so that when people are in your area, they think of you first. Good luck

Placing your message in a local newspaper may produce positive results!
Answer 2 :
You can start your own cleaning business. Start with part time and then go into full time once you get enough clients. This is a rather easy business to start. Look into other cleaning businesses in your area so you know how much they charge. I see many cleaning businesses on benefito.

About What happens to uninsured driver involved in an accident in St Paul, Minnesota

What happens to uninsured driver involved in an accident in St Paul, Minnesota?
An uninsured driver hits a car that ends up in my front yard. Police gets there, and issue the driver a citation and let this driver call a friend with insurance to come over to drive the uninsured car off. Am I missing something? or is this the way it works in Minnesota?
Insurance & Registration - 1 Answers

Answer 1 :
Usually the car gets impounded. The driver gets his license suspended. And that's about it. If the car didn't get impounded, I'd be wondering who he knew. You CAN sue both the owner of the car, and the driver, for your damages. Of course, if it's only grass, and he didn't hit your tree or house or anything, you don't have any damages

About What are some of the best african american hair salons the St.Paul/Minneapolis, MN area

What are some of the best african american hair salons the St.Paul/Minneapolis, MN area?
I know there are alot of shops, but my friends don't get their hair done in salons. Right now I'm looking for a place that can help my hair through transitioning from relaxed to natural hair. I shop where they do weaves and braids would also be a plus! My last stylist wasn't very professional (showing up late to work, not returning my phone calls for an appointment, etc.), so I'm looking for someone new and, somewhat, inexpensive. Please include a name, address, number and the services they provide. Oh, and names of places I should stay away from! Thanks

About How is it to live in downtown St. Paul

How is it to live in downtown St. Paul?
I am moving to St. Paul soon and will be working in Woodbury. I am single and hence do not really want to live in a suburb. I was wondering how is it living in Downtown St. Paul. Please help. Thanks.

Answer 1 :
I used to live in Woodbury, it is so nice out there. Don't worry, you will be close enough to still do things in the cities. There are also still things to do out in Woodbury, it has plenty of stores, restaurants, etc. I also lived in Minneapolis. It's not quite like St. Paul, St. Paul is kind of the 'poorer' city. But Minneapolis is really nice, if I were you I'd consider living in Minneapolis; not St. Paul. Just ask anyone who lives there, they will pretty much tell you the same thing. The two cities do connect downtown, so there is really no difference there. Good luck on your move!
Answer 2 :
I would move out to St.Cloud, its an awesome town with lots of bratwurst. The commute wouldnt be so bad

About How successful was St Paul personally in converting people to Christianity

How successful was St Paul personally in converting people to Christianity?
I know he spearheaded the mission to the Gentiles. But are we talking in the thousands converted here, or just a handful of perhaps key seed individuals to go and continue the work?

It's sunday.......... go ask your cult leader.
Answer 2 :
thousands
Answer 3 :
Put it this way, he is singlehandidly responsible for Christianity. Without his determination and vigour and travelling and letter writing, the followers of Christ would be just a small sect of Judaism which existed in a small, insignificant corner of the Middle East. St Paul, and the Roman roads which enabled him to travel around the Mediterranean area, are to blame for the travesty practised in the name of that humble and good (though seriously mislead) young man called Jesus.
Answer 4 :
Paul was an antisemitic piece of sh*t. F*ck him

About What is the best way to go about asking for corporate donations for smaller charities

What is the best way to go about asking for corporate donations for smaller charities?
I work with St. Vincent de Paul and we are looking to raise $20,000 to help send children in our community to summer camp. Last year we didnt need donations, but the help that we received last year has pulled out and we need to raise the money. As a charity, at most we can afford to put in $1600 from our own funds. I would love to just raise the entire amount and not dip into our own funds so that our money can be used for other things. We have a letter drafted out with official letterhead but I am having a heck of a time getting out there in front of the people who need to see it.

Answer 1 :
It's been my experience that you just ask. Try to find someone who is willing to work with you a little rather than just tossing it in. e-mail the p.r. rep and tell them you're soliciting donations for a charity and see what they suggest you do. I admit I'm not an expert, but getting someone in the business on your side seems like a good place to start.
Answer 2 :
My company has a community service comittee that they basically force new employees to be on. so i have to actually seek out charities so we can have events. I'm sure some other companies have this type of thing too. You can call, explain yourself, and ask if there is a Community Service or Social Commitee that takes care of charity events. If they don't you might ask simply to speak to the person who's usually in charge of organizing events. they might not have a designated person, but in my experience most places have this "chearleader"- type employee that just likes to get everyone involved in something -- you know-- that one co-worker that is always smiling and tries to make you sign up for the christmas potluck.
